WHAT IS A WATERJET?
A waterjet is a cutting tool that uses ultra-high pressure water combined with an abrasive such as garnet to cut almost any type of material. Waterjets can cut very intricate and precise parts, and 5-axis waterjets can cut beveled and tapered edges.
Waterjet cutting is a cold process, while other cutting processes like laser and plasma are hot processes. Since the waterjet cutting process is cold, it does not introduce thermal stresses into parts like plasma and laser cutting processes do.
KEY FEATURES OF CRAFTCO’S WATERJET:
- Craftco’s Waterjet is the Mach 500 from Flow Waterjet
- 5-axis capabilities that enable us to cut beveled and tapered edges
- 13′ 1″ x 6′ 6″ cutting envelope
- Can cut parts up to 12″ thick
- 94 ksi operating pressure – Higher than most waterjets – Lowers cutting time and amount of garnet used – Lowers your part’s overall cost
- Cuts parts with tolerances up to + 0.001″
- Cuts almost ANY material: metal, plastic, stone, wood, glass, cloth, composites and many other materials
- Edges have no heat affected zone (H.A.Z.)
