A water jet is a cutting tool that uses ultra-high pressure water combined with an abrasive such as garnet to cut almost any type of material. Water jets can cut very intricate and precise parts, and 5-axis water jets can cut beveled and tapered edges. Water jet cutting is a cold process, while other cutting processes like laser and plasma are hot processes. Since the water jet cutting process is cold, it does not introduce thermal stresses into parts like plasma and laser cutting processes do
